The bench so old you’d barely recognise it as one

The Ferryman’s Seat, in Bankside

The last ferryman’s seat in London is at Bankside, the only remaining example of centuries-old perches that once scattered the shoreline of the Thames. Made of flint, they offered a place for ferrymen to rest while they waited for passengers to carry across the river — when water taxis going back and forth across the river were the norm, and it was the only way for people and goods to reach the far shore, apart from via London Bridge.
