Smithfield’s days are numbered. In November 2024, the City of London Corporation announced that the ancient meat market will close, along with Billingsgate fish market, as soon as 2028. It will not be moving elsewhere, as originally planned. It will simply cease to exist. Chopped. Butchered. Exterminated.
