Hi and welcome back to your weekend newsletter…

This edition’s a collection of hot tickets for lovers of historic London transport, as this summer’s oddly rich in vintage doubledecker bus events — with opportunities to ride an open top 1970s doubledecker from pint-to-pint on a London pub crawl, take part in a majestic parade of vintage London buses across the southern countryside, or jump on free heritage bus rides through south London.

And if you don’t happen to be around for those, or don’t manage to grab tickets, I’ve also thrown in some ways to celebrate the vintage doubledecker from afar / from your sofa.

Do a pub crawl by open top 1970s bus

This July, for one day only, southeast London gets a free, open top pub shuttle bus, looping its way in a circuit around the Green Goddess in Blackheath, the Shirker's Rest in New Cross, and the Rusty Bucket in Eltham.

The brainchild of Deserter’s Andy and Vince, the 1970s DMS2 127 will be making the loop around the pubs 4 times over the day, with passengers allowed to bring their beer on board. More details here. Saturday 20 July, 1-8.30, free
