Churchill is the name of the most northernmost town in my home Canadian province of Manitoba, located on the extreme tip on the verge of the Arctic circle. I imagine Sir Winston would be pleased...
I'm 100% anti Churchill. The bloke was prepared to sacrifice the whole of Australia to the Japanese just because he wanted the glory of defeating the Germans. He didn't care for anything that might not further his own "legend".
Outside of that, a other great article.
P.S: Here are some links confirming what I was saying as I'm sure people will try to refute it.
Just to explain Bracken House, once and current home of the Financial Times: Brendan Bracken bought the FT after the war and merged it with the Financial News. He'd been Churchill's parliamentary private secretary and Minister of Information during the war. The building is in slightly pinkish brick, meant to recall the salmon pink the newspaper is printed on (a cost-cutting measure back in the 1890s when paper was pink and you had to pay extra to have it bleached).
There's a painting in the Guildhall Art Gallery, City of London, of Churchill receiving the Honorary Freedom of the City in 1943. It was painted by Frank O. Salisbury.
Thanks for all this. You might yet learn of more! In Paris just round the corner from The Arc de Triomphe is 'The Sir Winston Churchill' when I first came across it,it was 'the English pub in Paris' and it was handy because I was hungry and I had fish and chips there,it was more upmarket than many an English pub of yore,a french idea of one but now it's rebranded itself as a Restaurant. I'm mentioning it because of the Churchill link but also it's a good place to eat so close to that iconic attraction (rue de presbourg)+ the fish and chips is top notch but they do other dishes as well. I've visited Chartwell,it's very homely,it feels like a home. Churchill was always broke in real terms so he had to have a small house to live in modestly!!! How you think when you're posh and rich - but not as rich as your friends!
I don't know why you're amplifying the minority of race hustlers and grifters obsessed with denigrating Churchill. It's a fringe, extremist position, not supported by the majority in the UK of all backgrounds, as evidenced by his consent popularity in public polls.
Fat neck Churchill is in front of a pub / restaurant in Wanstead. The Conservative Club closed many years ago, replaced by the Allied Irish Bank, then the restaurant.

I've seen your town on tv, where the Polar bears are.

Aha, thanks for that detail. I've tweaked the text.
A really thorough job cancelling Churchill would need to include Bill Bryson as he visits Churchill's grave in Notes From a Small Island.
